Kedarnath Helicopter Booking 2026 – Routes, Price & Important Guidelines.

Every year, millions of pilgrims visit Kedarnath Dham, one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. For every devotee, the Kedarnath Yatra is not just a journey, but a profound spiritual experience. Traditionally, most pilgrims choose to undertake the 20-kilometer trek to the temple, starting from Gaurikund. Despite the challenging route, devotees complete the Yatra with immense faith and devotion. However, in recent years, a growing number of pilgrims have begun opting for helicopter services to Kedarnath, as these make the journey faster, easier, and more comfortable. With helicopter services, pilgrims can reach the temple, have darshan, and return the same day without the physical fatigue of a foot journey. If you are planning a Kedarnath helicopter trip in 2026, it is important to know about the available routes, ticket prices and essential travel guidelines before booking.

Why choose a helicopter for the Kedarnath Yatra?

1. Time savings and convenience
One of the biggest reasons pilgrims prefer helicopter service is the time savings. The traditional foot journey from Gaurikund to Kedarnath is approximately 20 kilometers, and it usually takes 7 to 8 hours to reach the temple, depending on your physical ability and weather conditions.
The pilgrimage route on foot is challenging, as only one route is available, leading to crowds during peak season. The pilgrimage usually takes two days to complete, while the helicopter ride takes only 10-15 minutes, allowing devotees to reach the temple quickly and comfortably.

2.Ideal for Senior Citizens and Families
Helicopter services are highly recommended for senior citizens, people with medical conditions, and those who are unable to walk long distances. The trek can be physically demanding, making it difficult for elderly pilgrims or those with health issues.
It is also an excellent option for families travelling with young children. Managing children throughout the long and challenging trek can be difficult, so helicopter services offer a much safer and more comfortable alternative.

3.Perfect for Pilgrims with Limited Time
Many devotees have busy work schedules and cannot spare several days for the Kedarnath Yatra. For such travellers, helicopter services are the best option. Since the flight takes only around 10–15 minutes, pilgrims can reach the temple, complete their darshan, and even return on the same day, making it an ideal choice for those with limited travel time.

4.Comfortable Journey Without Trekking
Helicopter services are also beneficial for pilgrims who are unable to undertake mountain treks or simply prefer a more comfortable travel experience. Instead of facing the physical challenges of the uphill trek, devotees can enjoy a smooth aerial journey while experiencing breathtaking views of the Himalayas and focus entirely on their spiritual pilgrimage.

Kedarnath Helicopter Routes
The helicopter shuttle service operates from three locations: Phata, Sirsi, and Guptkashi.

On the first day, you need to travel from Dehradun to Guptkashi or Sitapur by road, and your overnight stay will be there. On the second day, you will report to the helipad from where your helicopter ticket is booked and fly to Kedarnath.

Passengers have two options while booking:

Important Guidelines for Kedarnath Helicopter Bookings 2026

Before booking your Kedarnath helicopter tickets, there are a few important guidelines that every yatris should know. Following these will help make your journey smooth.

1. Char Dham Registration is Mandatory
Before booking your helicopter ticket, you must complete your Char Dham Yatra Registration. Without a valid registration, you will not be allowed to board the helicopter.

2. Carry a Valid ID Proof
Always carry the same Government issued Photo ID that you used while booking your helicopter ticket. The name on your ticket should match your ID proof.

3. Reach the Helipad on Time
Passengers are advised to report at the helipad at least one hour before their scheduled flying time. This is required for document verification, security checks, and boarding formalities.

4. Baggage Allowance
Only one bag is allowed per passenger. Generally, the baggage limit is 2kg, depending on the helicopter operator. Heavy luggage or hard suitcases are not allowed due to helicopter weight restrictions.

5. Flights Depend on Weather
Helicopter services are completely weather-dependent. Flights may get delayed, rescheduled, or cancelled due to rain, fog, strong winds, snowfall, or poor visibility. It is always a good idea to keep an extra day in your travel plan.

6. Medical Fitness
Although the helicopter ride takes only a few minutes, Kedarnath is located at a high altitude. If you have any heart-related problems, asthma, high blood pressure, or any serious medical condition, it is advisable to consult your doctor before planning the yatra.

7. Book Only Through Authorised Sources
Always book your helicopter tickets through the official booking portal or an authorised travel company. Avoid booking through unknown websites or individuals who promise confirmed tickets, as many fraud cases are reported during the Yatra season.

8. Book Your Tickets Early
Kedarnath helicopter tickets are available in limited numbers and usually get sold out within a few minutes after bookings open. It is always better to plan your trip in advance and book your tickets as early as possible.
