Char Dham Yatra 2026 Opening Dates

The Char Dham temples remain closed during winter due to heavy snowfall and reopen every summer. Every year on the way of Akshaya tritiya gates of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath open & close on the day of Bhai Dooj, the second day of Diwali. The official opening dates are declared by the temple committees after performing religious ceremonies.

Char Dham Registration 2026
Registration is mandatory for every pilgrim visiting Char Dham. Each & every dham you may stop for Checking registration like Dehradun (If you are travling via Vikasnagar), Mussoorie (Kuthal Gate), Yamuna Bridge, Naogaon, Barkot, Yamunotri Temple, Uttarkashi, Heena, Gangotri Temple, Ghansyali, Sonprayag, Kedarnath Temple, Pandukeswar, Badrinath Temple. Those are the points registration might checked due to security reason. 

The Uttarakhand Government introduced compulsory registration to ensure:
* Better crowd management
* Pilgrim safety
* Disaster monitoring
* Emergency assistance

Medical support without registration, pilgrims may not be allowed to proceed beyond designated checkpoints. You may have to drive back or need to register at the spot & get late for next destination.

Helicopter News

The Uttarakhand government and the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) are expected to announce the official booking schedule a few weeks before the Yatra begins. Once bookings go live, passengers should reserve their seats only through authorized helicopter operators or registered travel companies.

Helicopter services to Kedarnath are expected to operate from the usual helipads:
